Behda is a plant found everywhere in India. It is especially found in the lower mountainous regions. After February-March, this tree sprouts new shoots and new leaves. Along with this, the flowers bloom in the month of May and the fruits ripen in the following January-February.

The tree of the behda is 60-80 feet tall, the trunk is straight, oval, in groups in the middle of the spreading branches. The flowers are white or yellow in 3 to 6 inch long panicles. The upper flowers are male and the lower fruits are both male and female. The fruits are half an inch in diameter, dusty, hairy, round, compressed towards the back. The fruit is sharp or slightly pentagonal when dry. It is one seed.

Behda medicine

The botanical name of behda is Terminalia belirica (Gaerth) Roxb. and its Latin name is Belleric myrobalan. Behda is known in English as Siamese terminalia, Bastard myrobalan. It is known in Sanskrit by names like Bhootvasa, Vibhitaka, Aksha, Kali drum. And here we are telling about the benefits of behda. Which is useful as an Ayurvedic medicine for treating many diseases.

Cold, cough and phlegm: Keeping behda bark in the mouth at night while sleeping and sucking it removes the phlegm trapped in the throat, due to which cold is cured.

Eating behda powder in the amount of 3 to 6 grams with jaggery in the morning and evening is very beneficial in cough. Roasting the embryo or bark inside behda and keeping it in the mouth cures cough.

Take 250 grams of behda bark, roast 15 grams of navsar and grind 10 grams of gold ochre and keep it. Mixing honey in this mixture and eating it in the morning and evening cures cold. Keeping a piece of behda bark in the mouth cures cold.

Hair disease: The oil of the fruit of the behda fruit is extremely nutritious for the hair. It keeps the hair healthy. Soaking 2 teaspoons of behda fruit powder in a cup of water overnight and applying it on the hair roots in the morning and washing the hair after 1 hour stops hair loss.

Eye disease: Mixing behda and sugar in equal quantities and consuming it increases the eyesight. Taking sesame oil, behda oil, bhangra juice and a decoction of Vijayasar and cooking it in oil in an iron vessel and consuming it daily increases the eyesight. Mixing behda peel with honey and applying it on the face cures eye pain. Applying behda fruit powder mixed with honey on the face like mascara cures eye pain and swelling. Mixing the powder of the seeds of the behda tree with honey and making a paste of it and applying it every morning like kajal cures eye diseases.

Asthma: Taking equal amounts of behda and harde bark and making it into powder and consuming it in the amount of 4 grams is beneficial in the problem of asthma and cough. Keeping 3 to 6 grams of the peel of the fruit with behda tree seeds in the mouth and sucking it is beneficial in cough and asthma. Mixing a large amount of honey in the powder of the peel of the fruit of behda tree (10 grams) and licking it is very beneficial in severe asthma and hiccups.

Throat disease: Taking equal parts of behda, amla, black pepper and gargle in powder form and licking it with honey three times a day, if the throat voice is dull, it opens. Mixing the powder of behda, lindi pepper, Sindhav salt with kanji and consuming it opens the voice.

Kidney stones: Mixing 3-4 grams of behda fruit pulp with honey and licking it in the morning and evening is beneficial for kidney stones.

Cough: Chewing the bark of behda is beneficial for cough. Cooking it with ardoosi, black salt and behda in goat's milk cures all types of cough. Mixing honey in 10 grams of behda powder and licking it in the morning and evening after meals cures dry cough and chronic asthma. Rub ghee on behda fruit, coat it with flour, cook it, and when the skin temperature cools down, remove the flour from it and chew the bark of behda. Which is beneficial in cough and cold, asthma and sore throat.

Heart disease: Mix equal quantities of behda fruit powder and ashwagandha powder, take 5 grams of it, mix it with jaggery and consume it with hot water, it is beneficial in heart disease. Consuming 2 pinches of behda tree bark powder daily with ghee or cow's milk daily improves heart rate.

Constipation: Behda is very useful for treating constipation. It cures constipation by repairing the digestive system. To cure constipation, crush half-ripe behda fruit as a cure for constipation. After crushing it, take one teaspoon of it daily with a little water, constipation is cured and the stomach is cleansed.

Diarrhea: Consuming 3-6 grams of behda fruit powder after eating improves digestion. Mixing 2-5 grams of behda tree bark and 1-2 cloves in 1 teaspoon of honey and licking it 3 to 4 times a day is beneficial in diarrhea. Consuming 2 to 3 fried behda fruits cures severe diarrhea. Collecting behda fruits in a jar and mixing one-fourth of it with black salt and taking 1 teaspoon 2 to 3 times a day provides relief from diarrhea.

Urinary irritation: Mixing 3 to 4 grams of behda fruit pulp with honey and licking it in the morning and evening cures urinary irritation.

Impotence: Mixing 3 grams of behda powder with 6 grams of jaggery and consuming it every morning and evening cures impotence. And increases libido. Consuming behda bark daily increases potency. Behda pulp is sterile, so consuming its seeds daily cures impotence and increases arousal.

Skin diseases: Behda fruit oil applied on the skin cures itching, eczema, rashes and rashes and reduces inflammation and irritation. Massaging it cures itching and irritation. Behda oil cures white spots. Putting behda oil in the ear stops the foul-smelling discharge. Using behda oil cures dandruff and graying of the hair on the head as well as the problem of ringworm.

Drinking 40 to 60 grams of decoction of behda in the morning and evening is beneficial for bile, phlegm, etc.

Cures swelling: Grinding and applying behda seeds removes all types of swelling, inflammation and pain. Applying behda embryo cures swelling caused by bile. Applying behda to cure swelling and applying it with oil and applying it dry and hot cures swelling. Joint pain is also cured by behda.

Digestive power: Behda has hot properties due to which it helps to increase digestion power by intensifying fire. Digestive power: Taking 3 to 6 grams of powder of behda fruit after meals strengthens the digestive power. And slow fire is cured. The stomach gets strength.
